How to save places from Instagram reels

2 min readBy someday

Save restaurants, cafes, and travel spots from Instagram reels into organised place collections on iPhone before they disappear from your saved folder.

Instagram reels are where a lot of place discovery happens now — a fifteen-second walkthrough of a cafe, a hotel room tour, a neighbourhood food crawl.

The reel is vivid in the moment. It is much harder to find again when you are actually trying to plan.

Why Instagram saved reels are not enough

Saved reels live inside Instagram's saved folder. That works for casual rediscovery, but breaks down when you need to answer:

  • Which reel had that natural wine bar?
  • Was this for our trip or a local weekend?
  • What did the creator say to order?

someday is built for that retrieval moment.

Save a reel while you are watching

On iPhone:

  1. Open the reel you want to keep.
  2. Tap Share.
  3. Choose someday from the share sheet.
  4. Pick or create a collection.
  5. Add a quick note — what to order, when to go, who sent it.

Reels vs DMs: two discovery paths

Reels are public inspiration. DMs are personal recommendations.

Both deserve the same destination: a collection with context attached. If a friend sends a reel in DMs, share it to someday the same way — and note who sent it.

Return when it is time to plan

When you are choosing where to eat or building a trip shortlist, open your someday collection — not your Instagram saves. You get the place, your notes, and a list you can share.
